6- Continue doing school social work and helping my students grieve outwardly and heal
7- Speaking engagements with the African American Museum Philadelphia, ADEC in Miami, Florida, Bereaved Parents Alexandria, VA and possibly Kansas City and many more to come.
8- Grief Out Contest to support and acknowledge grief support organizations
9- Selling Grief-Out T-Shirts to support non-profit organizations
10- Continue to increase my praise to my Almighty Father God

It is a blessing to see dreams realized and more dreams developing. With God all things are possible. Here is to a new year filled with possibility, opportunities and redemption all because of Jesus Christ.

Michael Jackson’s Death

The death of Michael Jackson created a center stage for children and teenagers going through the grief and healing process. Everyday a child becomes fatherless and/or motherless but when it occurs to an icon’s family, the world takes notice.

Michael Jackson’s death reminded all people, that life is a struggle after death. Michael Jackson’s children Prince, Paris and Blanket are going through their grief process as I write this blog. They were forced to move out of their house and move with their grandmother. The children and the grandmother had to adjust to the new living arrangement and at the same time go through the experience of hurt and pain because of their loss. Not only are Michael's children feeling the agony of his death, so are his family, friends and fans. When an icon dies, millions of people goes through the grief and healing process because of the loss.

Grief and loss happens to everyone. To assist in your grief and healing process please remember this very important fact “it is okay to grieve and heal”. As Michael Jackson’s children move forward to a new life without their father I pray and hope that the ones supporting , caring and loving these children, allows them to grieve openly and honestly.

CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS CAN EXHIBIT THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR BECAUSE OF GRIEF: bed-wetting, temper tantrums, regression, inability to focus, head aches, stomach pains, clinging to adults and siblings, nervous, afraid, crying, extreme sadness, and mood swings.

TIP’S FOR HELPING GRIEVING CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS

- Reassure them that everything will be okay. Increase love and affection, more hugs and more quality time. Create a consistent routine that is simple. Incorporate fun and happy times for the children and the family as whole. Be patient with the less desirable behavior but put limits and expectations on all children.

RIP Teena Marie

 This morning I found out a great singer Teena Marie died and I was sad for her family. I am hoping the family and her friends grow through the grief and loss process. May her legacy live on.

RIP Jessica Fashano

I never met Jessica Fashano but the news of her death saddened me. My heart and prayers are with her family, friends, co-workers and community members.

According to the report in the New York Post:

Friends and family of Fashano described here as a do-gooder who “had it all”.

"Jessica was an amazing person with such a big heart. a beautiful girl, with a contagious laugh and a willingness to give back," Michelle Javian, 27, told the New York Post. Javian had been friends with Fashano since college. "She had it all," said Javian, who is co-founder of the charity Haboring Hearts Housing Foundation, which Fashano supported.

May Jessica's soul rest in peace and may her loved ones know it is okay to grieve outwardly and more importantly it is okay to reach out for support. Hoping everyone connected to her grieve outwardly, and heal inwardly.

Top 10 Deaths of 2010

2010 we lost some great people - many of them were adored by millions around the world. The top ten deaths of this year includes: Gary Coleman, the star of “Different Strokes”, Guru, Jim Phelps in “Mission Impossible”, Albertina Walker, Dr. Malinda Sapp, Dorothy Height, Carey Johnson, Lena Horne, Harold Dow, and Teddy Pendergrass. From their deaths we learn that these people had come to the world with a mission and they fully accomplished their mission only to leave behind us with warm and heartfelt memories.

Death is inevitable but that does not mean that we live each moment of our life in fear and anxiety. Each one of us is special and unique in a way and with the aid of our life, love and actions we can build and leave an ever lasting impression on others like the above people did. They lived life to the fullest and gave us those memories that we cherish today. Life is a beautiful journey with its share of ups and downs. This is the reason why we should love it every moment just like these individuals have done. They came and conquered our hearts only to be alive amongst us even after their death. It is hard to accept the loss of someone that has been with us however their presence will always remain in our hearts and their souls will be remembered for centuries and many generations to come in the future.

Grief Out Beginning

I had this little idea the other day. I was trying to think of interesting ways to spread grief and healing awareness. Basically, to let the world know that it is okay to grieve and raise funds for grief support organizations. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends I came up with The Grief Out Collective. I am working hard and keeping the faith that The Grief Out Collective aka Grief Out will be a success. The Grief Out Collective is driven to get the message to as many people as possible, that it is okay to grieve. We will get our message out by uniting grief and loss organizations and individuals passionate about grief work together. By bringing everyone together online we can provide a collective voice to say loud and proud it’s okay to grieve. Our site will provide the monthly Grief Out Star Awards to an organization that helps grieving hearts and we will give all visitors an opportunity to nominate grief organizations monthly and provide the winners with a share of our profits.

Grief Out could be something innovative enough to work! If this captures people's imagination and people check out the site, then Grief Out will have value - and people will support the effort and help us reach our goals. That's my hope. I've got nothing to lose by trying. When it works we will help many hurting people know it is okay to grieve.

I spent the first few days making contacts, registering the domain name, and working out a plan. I love creating and making plans. I will keep you posted on my progress.
