I'm Back

At times life can make it difficult to continue to stay focused. For the month of February through sickness, reorganizing, writing my new book, planning the summer and working a full time job, I lost my blog focus. Even though I lost my blog focus, I am back and ready more than ever to stay connected through this blog, my twitter account http://twitter.com/griefout and website Grief Out once it goes live.

Every Tuesday and Friday I will post a new message about what is going on in Ruby's world, grief and loss tips, great grief and healing sites and products, and my views on what is happening in the world.

Tuesday - I will blog about Wes Leonard, a 16-year-old basketball star, died after making his team's winning shot.

Friday - I will talk about a great site called www.1000memories.com

Happy Monday!

Monday's Healing Tip - For Grief and Loss

If we lean into our grief, pain and sadness and stay hopeful, VICTORY & HEALING will be our destination.   Monday's Healing Tip is inspired by a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King
"We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope." Martin Luther King

Haiti A Year After The Quake - Praying for Haiti

Last year Haiti was forced to deal with the devastation of an earthquake that changed their life and future forever. When people die by a large number the world takes notice and everyone grieves and mourn for the loss and pain of that devastated country.

On this day I say my prayer for Haiti as they continue to grieve, heal and build a new and better country. May God be with them and with us all.

Peace, Comfort and Blessings

Monday's Healing Tip - For Grief and Loss

Today's tip is HONESTY!

In order to heal and grow from our grief and loss experience(s) we must be honest with our grief. If your grief informs you to smile, you should be honest and smile. If your grief informs you to cry, you should be honest and cry. If your grief informs you to be angry, you should be honest, and be angry. Whatever reaction you are having to your loss please be HONEST. Honesty in our grief and loss journey will always lead to HEALING. Are you HONEST?

Praying for Arizona

Today, I learned the news of the shooting in Arizona, that wounded and killed more than 4 people. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was one of the victims that were shot - according to news report she is in critical condition. I am praying for everyone impacted by this awful tragedy. In their recovery and healing process I hope they know and depend on 3 Things

1- It's Okay To Grieve

2- Support is Needed

3- Healing Will Come

Wishing the state of Arizona comfort, peace and healing.

B.Y.Y. (Best Year Yet) Day 6: Keep God first and everything will be added to you. In this life full of distractions and shiny things - can and will blur our vision, from our first priority. When our vision is blurred ask God through Jesus to re-direct you/us back to Him. Stay focused on God first not anything else. Remember God is a jealous God. Seek first the Kingdom of God and all things will be added - not some but A L L (A L L is from my Aunt Jody I love her)
We are only promised this moment and because of that please enjoy it and let your loved ones know you love them. Ruby L. Taylor, M.S.W.
As I prepare for my Uncle's funeral I look within and reaffirm to myself - it is okay to grieve outwardly and heal inwardly. In all your getting get the freedom to grieve and heal. Grief Out http://www.GriefOut.com

Empowering Grievers to Grieve Outwardly and Heal

I am in the lab turning my presentations and workshops for grieving and healing into tools and programs to empower grievers to grow through their grief and healing process online. For the past two years I have done workshops from New Orleans to San Diego and everywhere in between for Bereaved Parents USA, The Mid-Atlantic Network of Youth & Family Services (MANY), Lancaster County Hospice PATHways Center for Grief and Loss, African American Museum of Philadelphia, The Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT), Ebenezer Baptist Church, and various other organizations and events. It is my hope to inspire and empower grievers to grow through their grief and healing process.

New online tools and resources coming soon!

B.Y.Y. (Best Year Yet) Day 3: When someone says no keep a positive attitude because the no today may turn into a yes in your future. Recently, I was rejected to speak at the national School Social Worker Conference but I was still thankful for the opportunity to submit my proposal. The other day the chair of the conference recommended me to speak at two regional conferences one in Chicago and the other in New York. I do not know how it will turn out but I was surprised by the recommendation and thankful to God for the opportunity. 2011 will be my best year yet.

BYY (Best Year Yet) Day 2: Appreciate all of the positive relationships in your life because success and achievement will never be reached alone. Thanks to my family, friends and everyone who support me and my efforts - I love the positivity and energy you bring to my life. For that I thank God for putting you on my life path. Enjoy your day and be thankful for something. Grief Out http://ping.fm/7h6HM
